How To Get The Most Out of Studying

The video was definitely an interesting watch especially with the beginning point of how it doesn’t matter how long you study but how you do it mixed with the way it is executed. The idea that learning isn’t fast, while not a new idea to me, is a fun new perspective combined with putting emphasis of the “how” not the “amount” of what you do. The most interesting topic for me was Professor Chew’s point that it doesn’t matter if you can recall a learning topic as that will do nothing for you if you don’t comprehend the subject and how to further relate it and utilize it. Like the last video we watched upon “Grit” this video makes a point that in order to be successful within studying, you must adopt a growth mindset and get rid of the belief that skills are fixed upon birth but rather move to actively better your skills and henceforth yourself. Multitasking is something that I don’t like to do as I feel it prohibits my full learning capabilities with distractions so it was a relief to see that it is in fact worse to multitask. I’ve experience some cases of bad metacognition but I fixed it by pointing out my weaknesses while still actively strengthening my strong points. In the end, the video was quite a helpful reminder on how to study and made me want to do some test runs of my own to see how I best study.
