Scenario
You have just received a promotion on the medical-surgical unit in your hospital. One of the first expectations if for you to evaluate a current evidence-based practice change you intend to implement that is based on the unit’s needs. Your new manager has asked that you evaluate the sustainability of the practice recommendation and present the information in a proposal to her within two weeks. You are to recommend how you will disseminate the information on the unit to the current staff and future hires.
Instructions
From your clinical experience. Identify and research an evidence-based practice problem that you would recommend implementing on your unit.
Prepare a proposal that includes the following.
- Describe the practice problem.
- Synthesize current evidence-based articles that include practice recommendations related to the problem.
- Discuss how you will implement the change on the unit.
- Identify how you will evaluate the practice change.
- Describe how this practice change is sustainable.
- Recommend to your manager how you will disseminate the information to the current staff and any future new hires on the unit.
